WSU Sunrise Field Day and pre-field day workshops
The Washington State University Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center invites you to attend their 4th Sunrise Resarch Orchard annual field day on August 23. Researchers will discuss studies on pest resistance in apple, demonstrate and share data on a solid set canopy pesticide delivery system, discuss mechanical vs. chemical thinning, and give an update on an apple replant study.
New this year is an opportunity for you to participate in a variety of hands-on exercises before the main field-day activities.
- Learn how to ID and monitor natural enemies, how they are effected by pesticides, and how to scout for pests and ID invasive insects in the biocontrol (BC) workshop. We will provide dynamic activities and take-home guides for an engaging learning experience.
- There will also be an option to join a tour and discussion of weed control using new herbicides lead by Tim Smith.
Thursday, August 23, BC workshop and weed control tour activities begin at 4:00pm with the field day presentations from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will follow in the Sunrise equipment compound, with a dedication of new facilities provided by a donation from Northwest Farm Credit Services.
