Spotted Wing Drosophila

Long thought to be a resident only in regions with warmer climates, Spotted Wing Drosophilia surprized specialists when it appeared in the Pacific Northwest in 2009. WSU entomologists quickly reacted to form a project to survey and otherwise research the flies' presence in Washington state and its impact on agriculture. This web site reports on the current status of the fly and the findings from the project.
