WA 5 Fruit Characteristics
- ripens early to mid Sept (follows Gala)
- medium size; round
- very attractive, bright
- distinctive red/orange stripe over yellow
- little russet or bitterpit
Eating Quality
- excellent texture - crisp, very juicy and very firm out of storage (has "ideal" combination of ethylene genes)
- good sugar/acid balance
- to achieve optimal quality, do not over crop or pick too early
